About The Club

The George Best Memorial Mossley NISC is proud to have Barbara McNarry as its Honorary Patron and wholeheartedly supports The George Best Foundation, which was set up to fund research into liver disease and alcoholism. The Foundation also promotes a healthy lifestyle among young people through football and can be found at www.georgebest.com.
George Best Memorial Mossley, NISC was formed in 2006 to lay the foundations of a well-established and successful supporters club in South-East Antrim that is truly recognised throughout the province as a devoted supporter of “Our Wee Country”. We aim to provide access to matches for our members but also provide transport to all home games for any OWC supporters in the local area.
Nearly one year after its inception we signed up to a Charter that acts as the main behaviours, rules, regulations and ambitions that are expected from all members. Our membership is drawn from the East Antrim area and we made a decision from the offset that we would limit the number of members to 16. The club meets on the first week of every month at Ballyearl Leisure Centre; the evening of the meeting is flexible to cater for some of the other commitments of club members.
2006 was a very successful first year for the club. Our inaugural home trip was against Estonia (remember the snow…) and our inaugural away trip was to Copenhagen in October of the same year. Our first meeting was on the 10th January 2006 where we had 14 members who decided to name the club “George Best Memorial, Mossley” in memory of our local hero. After Denmark one member moved on to pastures new and we filled our quota of members to 16.
In 2006 we had a number of social events that included a couple of Texas Hold 'Em nights (May & September) and a Night O'Camels (30th September). Thanks to everyone that supported any of these events.
In 2007 we also ran a golf day at Ballyclare Golf Club and another Texas Hold 'Em night. Look out for more events in 2008.
The George Best Memorial, Mossley NISC is not yet a member of the amalgamation of Northern Ireland Supporters but we are open to be convinced on its merits.
